We’re hyper clocked onto sexism these days.

In the light of the #MeToo campaign, anything that seems to be promoting unwanted intimate behaviour is called out in a flash.

And rightly so; for too long, people have had to put up and shut up with being interfered with.

The latest victim of this mass wokeness is Jimmy Choo.

The brand released an ad back in November and it’s been causing a whole load of controversy because folk think it’s glamorising catcalling.

In it, Cara Delevigne, wears a sparkly pair of Jimmy boots down the street, and attracts all kinds of attention from passing dudes.

Some whistle at her. One even says ‘Hey, nice shoes lady!’. Cars beep. A street stall owner watches her as she shimmies away from her.

Everyone in New York is mad for Cara’s boots, you see.

But Twitter ain’t buying it.

‘They are making it look like catcalling is acceptable,’ writes one user.

‘Pretending that catcalling is ok is wrong. No girl likes to be catcalled and followed if they are on their own on a night out.

‘Don’t want to be controversial, but the ad is normalising a thing that guys shouldn’t do.’

I love Cara Delevingne, but that Jimmy choo ad that she is in,is promoting all of the wrong things. They are making it look like cat calling is acceptable. They also make it seem as if girls want to try to sell themselves to guys,by the types of shoes they wear&the way they walk(c)

Because being cat-called and harassed on the streets of NYC is just so cool, sexy and fun! Wow. Read the room Jimmy Choo!

Hey ladies, buy our shoes! You'll have to beat men off with a stick! No, really! Buy two pairs now and get a Jimmy Choo man-beating stick absolutely free!

Now, obviously, not all women like being catcalled and yes, sometimes you just want to be left alone when you’re walking on your own at night.

But isn’t Cara actually revelling in all the attention her sparkly boots are getting? Isn’t the attention solely supposed to be on the Choos and not her body?

All this angst seems a little bit far fetched to me but still.

What do you think?
