Fashion houses and labels have all outdone themselves for their shows in 2022. Some have been the topic of the day, the week or even the year. Balenciaga, Jacquemus, Valentino, and Dior.

The Balenciaga Fall/Winter 2022 show storm

It was in an impressive setting that reproduced a snowstorm that Demna presented a Balenciaga fall-winter 2022-2023 collection. The artistic director once again evokes contemporary issues that are dear to him, such as climate issues and mass production. Imagined several weeks before the war broke out in Ukraine, the event brings back painful memories for the creator of Georgian origin who himself experienced exile and gives this show a new resonance and a message of resilience. Classic or even refined silhouettes meet hybrid and daring pieces, worn by models parading in a snowstorm contained in a glass bell in the middle of the floor of hand-picked guests.

The Louis Vuitton Cruise 2023 show in San Diego

Once again, Nicolas Ghesquière presented his Louis Vuitton Cruise 2023 collection last May in a most exceptional place, the esplanade of the Salk Institute for Biological Studies designed by the American architect Louis Kahn, dedicated to independent scientific research and non-profit. Between the building with the imposing volumes typical of the brutalist movement, the nomadic and fluid silhouettes in telluric colors evoke the spirit of travel dear to Louis Vuitton in a retro-futuristic interpretation.

The AMI Spring-Summer 2023 fashion show in front of the Sacré-Coeur
Alexandre Mattiussi, the founder of the Parisian label AMI, chose the majestic building that has dominated Paris from the top of the Montmartre hill since 1875 to organize the presentation of his spring-summer 2023 collection. With its symbolic and romantic setting around the Sacré-Coeur basilica in Montmartre, this place was the perfect setting for an ode to the style of Parisians past and present. On the podium, all French and international icons follow one another; Audrey Tautou, Ana Girardot, Cara Delevingne and Kristen McMenamy succeed Isabelle Adjani, Laetitia Casta and Emily Ratajkowski. A true lover of cinema, Alexandre Mattiussi once again offers a parade that looks like a skit, full of freshness and lightness.
The salt mountain of the Jacquemus fall-winter 2022-2023 fashion show
In the dazzling white salt hills and pink basins of Salin-de-Giraud in the Camargue, Simon Porte Jacquemus drew inspiration from marriage to design his fall-winter 2022-2023 collection. In the midst of this lunar landscape, the silhouettes of the show come together, revealing looks of exquisite purity declined in a sober palette specific to the label and tinted mainly with bright white, ecru, warm brown and deep black. Always very poetic, the collection entitled “Le Papier” evokes the designer’s desire to reconnect with the codes of his first collections, which have become the signature of the designer from Provence.

The Valentino haute couture fall-winter 2022-2023 show on the steps of piazza di Spagna

At sunset, the house of Valentino unveiled its fall-winter 2022-2023 haute couture collection on the steps of piazza di Spagna, in the heart of Rome, a city that for decades has hosted the greatest Italian fashion shows. Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli conceived this event as a celebration of the beauty born from the work of the house’s workshops, both timeless and capable of resonating deeply with our times, by dialoguing with the codes of Mr. Valentino, with whom he worked. The twins from the last Gucci show by Alessandro Michele

Alessandro Michele saw double for his latest Gucci Spring/Summer 2023 show. Unique and moving, he questioned the notion of identity and individuality in a world where everything seems to look alike during a surprising parade around the twin named ‘Gucci Twinsburg’. In front of an audience dumbfounded by the decor peopled with black and white photographs of twins, captured by the Canadian photographer Mark Peckmezian, the analogous silhouettes who then tread the catwalk will play with the original and the copy. Indeed, in the note of intent about this parade, Alessandro Michele declares that he wants to bring out the different qualities that emerge from the clothes on absolutely identical bodies. A presentation that takes on even more momentum with the announcement of the creator’s departure of Gucci’s artistic direction in November 2022, barely a month after the show.

Olivier Rousteing invites Cher to his Balmain Spring/Summer 2023 show

Organizing music festivals since 2020 on the occasion of its Balmain fashion shows, the profits of which are donated to the association (RED), Olivier Rousteing, the young designer who has been artistic director of the house since 2011, has transformed the Jean Bouin stadium on a giant catwalk and unveils a collection rich in surprises to an ecstatic public for its Balmain spring-summer 2023 show. Singer Cher, whose career began in the 1960s, arrives on stage on her revolutionary title Believe, to congratulate the creator, moved to tears in the face of the applause of some 8,000 guests.

Bella Hadid’s spectacular performance at the Coperni Spring/Summer 2023 show

The Coperni spring-summer 2023 show marked Paris fashion week last September. Within the textiles room of the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris, the Parisian label delivered an unforgettable performance that featured supermodel Bella Hadid. In less than ten minutes a team of specialists, led by Dr. Manel Torres, created a minimal dress by sprinkling a white liquid, a spray fabric made of cotton fibers and synthetic materials, on the body of my model who finds herself, as if by magic, covered in a white dress with a boat neck at the end of the process. An unforgettable moment now entered into the history of fashion. The Dior Homme Fall 2023 show among the pyramids of Egypt

In the light of the sunset behind the Pyramid of Cheops, in Gizah, Egypt, the 75 silhouettes from the Dior Fall 2023 men’s collection in the colors of the Egyptian sky and the desert landscape followed one another. If Kim Jones, artistic director since 2018, chose one of the Seven Wonders of the World as the spectacular setting for this show with space and futuristic influences, it is because it is loaded with astronomical significance, a tribute to the fascination that had Christian Dior for astrology.
