The government has announced it is putting £2 million towards free activities and meals through out the summer holidays to help hard-up parents.
The new scheme is aimed at helping families who would usually rely on the free school meals they receive during term time, the Department for Education said.
A series of projects across the country will take place and will include free football classes, play sessions and cooking classes.
Children and Families Minister Nadhim Zahawi said: For most pupils, the end of the school summer term signals the start of holidays, days out and a chance to make memories with friends and family.
Other families, who might rely on the support provided by schools, are not so lucky.
