Dublin's Trinity City Hotel has a clever package – a little slice of luxury where you can literally have your cake and eat it too.

Set the mood

Trinity City Hotel is a dream destination for anyone hoping to make the most of Dublin – located on Pearse Street, it's just minutes from Grafton Street, Temple Bar, Dublin Castle and O'Connell Street.

The hotel itself is set across four original Georgian houses, a former fire station and a leafy courtyard garden. It's newly-renovated, too – with high ceilings, exposed brick walls and a mixture of vintage glamour and contemporary chic.

There are 198 bedrooms to choose from – ranging from the classic to the Superior, Deluxe and Executive, if you're feeling particularly lavish, why not opt for an Executive or Georgian Suite?

The Vintage Tea Tour

Trinity City Hotel has teamed up with Vintage Tea Tours to give you a unique sight-seeing experience that will also satisfy your sweet tooth.

Hop on board Pauline, the vintage 1960s double-decker Routemaster bus at the CHQ building, which runs tree times daily from Wednesday until Sunday.

The bus is quirky, a good dose of nostalgia is served with your platter of sandwiches, cakes and other treats as the decor is a mix of fairy lights and bunting. Over 90 minutes the team will give you an insight into Dublin's rich history, taking in sights including Phoenix Park and St Patrick's Cathedral.

Any worries about boiling hot tea and coffee are also taken care of as you will be sipping your beverage of choice from a travel mug that is decorated with a unique print of Dublin, which you get to take home as a souvenir.

The Vintage Tea Break Package includes overnight accommodation with breakfast and a Vintage Tea Tour, with prices starting at €219 per room.

Want to keep the history buff in your life happy? You're within a short walk to Trinity College (above), Dublin Castle and the original site of the Trinity City Hotel dates back to Viking times.

From 1910 until 1924, the British Army's Recruiting Office was based at 23-25 Great Bunswick Street, where the hotel's bar and courtroom are now situated.

Just a few doors down at 27 Great Brunswick Street, one of the leaders of the 1916 Rising, Padraig Pearse, was born in 1879. The street became Pearse Street in 1923 in honour of Padraig and his brother Willie, who were both executed after the 1916 Rising.

Guilty Pleasure

Staycations are all about eating, drinking and having a good time, something Trinity City knows too well.

If you fancy a light lunch, a group dinner or a romantic meal-for-two, the Courtyard Restaurant has a menu featuring classic foodie favourites, as well as contemporary dishes, with panoramic windows overlooking Pearse Street.

We ate in Number 24, a private dining room in one of the original Georgian parts of the hotel – pan-seared salmon with creamed potato, crab and tomato hollandaise was a hit. And topped off nicely by Eton Mess for dessert…

Get Me There

As well as its Vintage Tea Break package (from €219 per room), Trinity City Hotel offers a Shop and Drop package including overnight B&B for two, a glass of Prosecco on arrival, plus a 10pc discount at the Kilkenny Shop on nearby Nassau Street.

For those driving valet parking is available for €20 per night (2pm-2pm the following day). For more info, see trinitycityhotel.com.
