Man dies following shooting in Ballyfermot, west Dublin

A man is his 40s has died following a shooting in Ballyfermot, west Dublin.

Gardaí are investigating the incident which occurred early on Sunday morning at a house in the Thomond Road area.

An Garda Síochána said in a statement the man had a number of gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The scene has been preserved and a technical examination will be carried out by the Garda Technical Bureau. The office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
