A man travelling in a horse and cart has been killed in a crash with a car.

A 30-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after the incident in south-east London.

The victim, in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene in Thamesmead.

The horse had to be put down after being seriously injured in the collision on the A2016 Eastern Way on Saturday morning, police said.

They added that they are working to trace and inform the dead mans next of kin.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward, especially motorists who may have dash-cam footage.
