At the royal wedding today, Queen Elizabeth II wore her classic combo of hat, dress, and matching coat (of course topped up by some priceless jewels).

The Queen is something of a fashion icon, and her style has evolved over the years.

Shes often known for wearing bright colours, and is daring in her choices – particularly at events like weddings.

Here are some of her sartorial choices from royal weddings gone by.

Princess Anne and Mark Phillips

At the wedding of her oldest daughter, the Queen wore a cobalt blue suit.

The ceremony – on 14 November 1973 – looks very dated now, but the Queens outfit is something youd potentially see her in today.

This aqua blue outfit is one of HRHs most iconic looks.

Here she is on the balcony at Buckingham palace in 1981 after the ceremony at St. Pauls Cathedral.

It seems like theres a reoccurring theme here.

The Queen wore cornflower blue to Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrews wedding, seemingly inkeeping with the Queen Mothers pastel-toned outfit.

Princess Anne and Timothy Laurence

Princess Annes second wedding (to Commodore Timothy Laurence) was a much more private affair than her first.

There are no authorised pictures of the Queen, but it is thought that she broke from her blue streak and instead went for an emerald green coat and hat combo.

Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex

In 1999 Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and Sophie Rhys-Jones were married.

This is a rather daring outfit for Queen Elizabeth, particularly as protocol states you shouldnt wear a gown as a royal wedding guest.

Shes far more than a standard guest, though, and looks great in this lilac number with ostrich-feather headpiece.

Charles and Camilla

With Camilla in muted oyster, the Queen was free to go for a cream ensemble at her oldest sons second wedding.

She has been known to rock a monochrome look, and this was the perfect time to do so.

Kate and William

At 2011s wedding of the year, the Queen pulled out all the stops in yellow.

Notice how her nude shows are a nod to those that Kate brought back into popularity at the time.

Harry and Meghan

Today, in a bold move, Her Royal Highness sported a chartreuse jacket and dress.

This is accompanied with a matching hat with a purple flourish, and a black bag and shoes.

Her famous white gloves and pearls make it unmistakably her.
