Margaret Burton, another woman and two school boys gave first aid to try and save the boys life.

She said: We were taking my son to college and I was going to work and I saw a group of lads and at first I thought there was fighting but then as I got closer I could see it was a boy on the pavement with an adult around him.

I said to my husband “lets pull up and see if we can help”.

As I got to the boy it was obvious he wasnt breathing.

I started doing CPR and there was a lady on the phone to the ambulance service who told us we needed to go and get a defibrillator from the church.

Margaret said two schoolboys then ran to nearby St Andrews Church and raced back to them with the medical equipment.

They were talked through the procedure by a 999 operator and continued CPR until the paramedics arrived and took over.
