A Brexit campaign boss was pulled over by police this week after it was found he was pretending to be a diplomat.
Leave.EU’s communications director Andy Wigmore was posing as a diplomat on Foreign Office orders when he was stopped on the A3 on January 19.

At the time, he had allegedly been using illegal diplomatic plates and also had hold of an expired diplomatic ID card.
Wigmore was initially pulled over after officers suspected he was driving without insurance.
He was later detained.
The communications director, who is a friend of Nigel Farage, held diplomatic status for Belize until 2017, when it was revoked.
After being pulled over on the A3 last week, police seized Wigmore’s diplomatic plates and ID.
Speaking to The Sun, he said:’It’s very embarrassing, but it was all just an administrative error. I was unaware my number plates had been decommissioned.’
Controversial Brexiteer Aaron Banks is Wigmore’s boss.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: ‘Former diplomats would be treated by the police in exactly the same way as any other member of the public.’
