Three people have been shot dead a fourth has been wounded in an alleged murder-suicide at an upscale beachfront hotel in Southeast Texas, say police.
Emergency services were called to the San Luis Resort at around 4.30am on Monday, said Galveston Police Capt. Josh Schirard.
Schirard explained another guest reported hearing a popping sound from a nearby room and called the police.
Officers entered the locked room and found three bodies, plus a fourth person who was seriously wounded. That person has been taken to a hospital.
Schirard said the four people shot had been staying together in the room where the bodies were found.
Paul Schultz, the vice president of hospitality for Landry’s Inc, which owns the resort, said: ‘Our thoughts are with the victims and their family members during this difficult time.
‘We are still gathering information about this isolated incident, however it appears to have been a murder suicide amongst a family in their room.’
It is the second fatal shooting on the property in less than a year. In April 2017, hotel security guard Phillip Molis was shot dead in the parking lot.
A 19-year-old Missouri City man was charged with his murder in October last year.
Landry’s Inc is owned by billionaire Tilman Fertitta.
