A man has died after being shot in the stomach with a crossbow.
The victim was found injured in the street in Monfa Road in Bootle shortly before 2am on Bank Holiday Monday after reports of an altercation.
Merseyside Police said the man, who is believed to be in his 30s, died in hospital a short time afterwards.
A crossbow has been recovered, police said.
Detectives have arrested a 49-year-old man from Bootle on suspicion of murder and a 41-year-old man from Bootle who was arrested earlier remains in custody.
