A student has spoken about the moment she woke up to a man raping her during Freshers Week in her new halls of residence.
She said she froze after waking up and realising a stranger was on top of her before frantically pushing him off her at the University of Essex.
Sultan Mohammed, 25, is now on trial for the alleged rape on October 3.
The victim tried taking a picture of her attacker but he managed to leave the room quickly. She then filmed herself on her phone recounting her ordeal then called a friend who alerted campus security.
Mohammed has denied raping the student at the universitys Colchester campus last year.
Prosecutor Andrew Thompson said Mohammed was caught on CCTV prowling around in the early hours of the morning and had probably been looking for some sort of sexual encounter.

The jury heard how Mohammed had found an insecure door into the student halls, before allegedly entering the students unlocked room where she was asleep.
Mr Thompson said: The first she knew of the defendant was when she woke shortly after 5am that morning, seemingly from a deep sleep, to find a strange male on top of her in her own bed raping her.
The young woman was shocked and confused at the attack and although she couldnt see his face, she could feel he had dreadlocks, the jury was told.
