Man stabbed to death near Regent’s Park named by police

A young man stabbed to death near Regent's Park has been named by police as Zahir Visiter, of Westminster.

The 25-year-old was stabbed in St John's Wood at about 6.15pm on Thursday.

He died shortly after he was taken to hospital by ambulance workers.

Two male suspects were seen leaving the area and police say they are still on the run.

Detective Chief Inspector Garry Moncrieff said officers wanted to hear from anyone who saw the stabbing or its aftermath in Cunningham Place.

"There have been reports of two male suspects seen leaving the area towards Park Road and into a nearby mosque," he said.

"My team are busy working around the clock to trace and apprehend those involved and bring them in for questioning. A review of local CCTV footage, forensic analysis at the scene and searches in and around the scene continue.

"Understandably those in the local area will be alarmed and concerned about this brutal attack. Extra police will be in the area and on hand to speak to the public about any concerns they may have."

Mr Visiter's family have been informed of his death.

He is one of at least 48 people stabbed to death in the UK this year.
