Family of missing man found dead in fishing lake pay emotional tribute

The heartbroken family of a missing man whose body was found in a fishing lake has paid an emotional tribute.

Jack Morrad, 28, disappeared after leaving Colors night club in Basildon, Essex, at around 2.30am on 23 December.

He was out with friends after watching West Ham play Watford earlier in the evening.

As concerns for his welfare continue to grow, around 30 people today (28 Dec) gathered in Gloucester park area, in Essex to search for any possible traces. Police and Essex Search and Rescue were also seen searching the lakes in the park.

A body was discovered shortly before 11.30am on Thursday after detectives drained a large lake in the park after several days of searching.

A dad-of-two who miraculously survived two heart transplants as a teenager has died suddenly at the age of 25. Police formally identified him as Jack on Saturday.

Jacks family said in a statement: It is impossible to describe Jack in a couple of sentences.

All we can say is that his death is a loss to this whole world. As a family we are totally heartbroken over what has happened to Jack.

A post mortem examination carried out on Friday established that Jack died from drowning.

After Mr Morrad was reported missing, Essex Police launched a large-scale search to find him.

Police released CCTV footage of his last known movements as he headed towards the towns Gloucester Park in a Christmas jumper.

Extensive searches were carried out across Basildon by our officers with the support of Jacks family and friends, volunteers from Essex Search and Rescue and members of the public.
