Mums horror as she found stranger in her home at 4am talking to her child

A mum woke up in the middle of the night to find a stranger sitting with her toddler on the stairs.

Officers were called to the home after the unnamed mother discovered the intruder at 4am with her two-year-old son.

A woman has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted abduction and remains in custody for questioning.

In a Facebook post, the mum describes the terrifying incident at her home in Hyde, Greater Manchester, on Boxing Day.

She urged other parents to make sure their doors and windows were always locked.

In the post, which has since been deleted, the mum wrote: 4am this morning I woke up to a woman on my stairs with my 2 year old son trying to kidnap him while me and [****] slept in the next room.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: Just after 4am this morning, police attended an address in Hyde as a result of a report of an adult woman being found in the house, with one of the young children who
lives in the house.

Police were called and arrived shortly after.

An adult woman has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.
