Man rearrested on suspicion of murder of mother-of-five

A man has been re-arrested on suspicion of murder by police investigating the disappearance of a mother-of-five from Kent.

Sarah Wellgreen, 46, disappeared on 9 October from in New Ash Green in Kent.

Police, who described the disappearance as "entirely out of character", said her car was left at home and there were no new transactions on her bank card.

They confirmed on Thursday that a man in his 30s, who was previously arrested on 16 October, had been again detained in custody after new information had emerged.

The man has not been charged.

A search operation for Ms Wellgreen has included searches in Woodland near the Bluewater shopping centre in Dartford, areas in Greenhithe near the River Thames, and a diving operation around the River Darent in Dartford.

The also searched the missing mother's home in New Ash Green, where the front door of the property appeared to have been kicked in.

Hundreds of members of the public have volunteered to help.

Ms Wellgreen's son, Lewis Burdett, has thanked the public for their support in the search for his mother.

"The last month has been a never-ending nightmare and so distressing for our family," he said.

"If there is any comfort to be found during this time, it has been through seeing the support the community has given in the search to find our mum."
