A special needs teacher faces up to five years in jail after admitting to having sex with two of her students.

Laura Calladio Ramos, 32, from Connecticut, was charged with sexually assaulting an 18-year-old special education student for four months in early 2017 and sexually assaulting a second student on multiple occasions.

Superior Court Judge Robert Devlin said he intends to sentence her to a maximum of five years in prison in late January, according to the Connecticut Post.

Ramos, who worked as a teacher at Central High School in Bridgeport, resigned from her position after one of her students said he had intercourse with her between December 2016 and April 2017.

The 18-year-old told police they had sex in a restaurants electrical room and also in her car after Ramos told him her husband no longer wanted to have sex with her.

He also told police he received a text from Ramos, whose husband divorced her earlier this year, saying it was the best sex she ever had.

According to the student, there may have been at least three or four more students who Mrs Ramos was involved in but he didnt know their names.

Before pleading no contest on Monday, Ramos told the judge that prosecutors probably had sufficient evidence to prove the charges against her, including the violation of a protective order from a separate arrest when a police officer spotted her talking on a phone while driving.

Officers then realised that one of Ramos alleged victims was in the car with her at the time as they drove to the beach.

In a court appearance a month later, Devlin told Ramos: Honestly, what is going on here? You were going to the beach with a boy who was a subject of your case. That is completely reckless.

Ramos remains out on bail and her lawyer Edward Gavin is preparing to fight for a lighter sentence.

Mr Gavin said: We look forward to resolving this very difficult case.

The court is giving us the opportunity to address an appropriate sentence and we will do so at the sentencing in January.
