Neighbour from hell threatened to slice up locals in angry topless rant

A neighbour from hell who threatened to slice up locals after downing seven pints is facing jail time.

Timothy Coldwell flew into a rage when he returned home after several days away, only to find police had been inside following concerns someone had broken in.

The 53-year-old became aggressive – punching the walls of his council flat in Warmley Close, Solihull, and telling neighbours he was going to kill them.

Despite dismissing the claims as twaddle at Birmingham Magistrates Court, Coldwell was found guilty of two counts of of using threatening/abusive/insu​lting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear.

District Judge Jan Jellema warned Coldwell he could be jailed when he returns to court for sentencing.

Prosecutor Jeanette Stevenson said Coldwell found his flat in a state of disarray when he returned home on July 3.

Neighbour Peter Felton told him that police had been inside, but Coldwell insisted the officers had left the flat untidy.

Mr Feltons girlfriend Hollie Rice said: I was hearing a lot of shouting and banging and became concerned for Peter.

I saw him (Coldwell) and asked what was wrong. He said the state of my flat when I came back was a mess.

He then said: I am going to kill you all. I felt terrified.

Another neighbour, Stephen Fisher, said Coldwell called him a c*** and was threatening to slice people up.

In police interviews, Coldwell insisted he couldnt remember anything because he had been drinking.

But giving evidence in court, he claimed he could recall the incident – claiming he drank seven pints during the day before coming home.

He denied using any abusive language against his neighbours, saying they had made it up.

He said: It is all a load of twaddle.

I came back to watch the England game but I did not say those things. It did not happen.

Coldwell also pleaded guilty to charges of arson and assaulting a constable.
