First picture of man, 21, killed in landslide looking at Storm Callum devastation

A 21-year-old man has died after getting caught in a landslide when he got off a bus to view the devastation caused by Storm Callum, according to reports.

Corey Sharpling was killed when he tried to get a closer look of the A484 road while he was travelling to work in Camrarthen, Wales, the Sun reported.

He was injured after a landslide of rocks fell on top of him yesterday, the news site added.

An eyewitness said: There was a loud rumble as some of the valley side slipped down the hillside.

This poor lad was hit by the full force of it, he didnt stand a chance.

The witness added it was a freak accident and Mr Sharpling, who worked for McDonalds, would have been fine if he stayed on the bus.

His 18-year-old girlfriend Marsha Spittle paid tribute to him on Facebook, writing: Today I lost the love of my life – he was everything I always wanted.

You have sadly been taken from me and your family by a terrible accident earlier tonight.

I want you to know that I will always love you forever and always.

My Shapling is said to have been watching council workers clear trees from the road when he when he was struck.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys police said: Officers continue to deal with a landslide on the A484 at Cwmduad, Carmarthenshire, where tragically a man has died.

His next of kin has been informed and his family is being supported by specially trained officers.

The road is closed and will be for some time.

Two other people were killed as torrential rain brought flooding and treacherous conditions to western parts and around coastal areas yesterday and on Friday.

A man was swept away by rough seas in Brighton, East Sussex, and another 32-year-old man died after falling into the waters at Penarth Marina in Penarth, near Cardiff, on Friday.

Storm Callum is set to fade today after wreaking devastation across parts of the UK.
