Man stabbed ‘in face’ on London Underground

A man was stabbed on the London Underground in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A witness posted images of the aftermath of the attack on Twitter and wrote: "A man just got stabbed in the face on the [Central Line] between Mile End and Bethnal [Green].

"I didn't see who it was apparently it was a man sitting near him they were arguing can't believe it!! Hope he's okay."

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

The person in the picture is shown wearing a black hooded jacket, a black baseball hat and denim jeans.

British Transport Police (BTP) said the incident happened on the Central Line, between Stratford and Mile End in east London, at around 12.50am.

The victim was treated for injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
