A young schoolboy was stopped by police after being spotted walking through the streets carrying an axe.
The nine-year-old, who is still in primary school, had his weapon confiscated on the spot.
The incident came just days after a 12-year-old was arrested six miles away for carrying a knuckle duster.
The nine-year-old was stopped by community support officers in the Kirkdale area of Liverpool.
It was revealed that he was carrying an axe after Merseyside Police posted a picture of the seizure on Twitter, accompanied by the hashtag #DoYouKnowWhatYourKidsAreUpto?.
The recovery follows the arrest of the 12-year-old, who was taken into custody after officers were called to Broad Lane in Southdene on Sunday.
They were following reports of a disturbance close to nearby shops.
He was detained in Wignall Park and the item recovered by police.

An image of the knuckle duster released on social media did initially spark claims it was simply a bottle opener.
But a spokesperson for the force, said: Unfortunately the appearance of most weapons that officers come across are manufactured in a way that gives them the appearance of something innocent like a bottle opener.
