Around 50 firefighters were need to contain the fire as it threatened to spread to neighbouring buildings.
A huge fire at a mill in Rochdale forced the evacuation of around 30 homes as firefighters battled to contain the blaze.
Families were forced to take shelter in the local magistrates court.
The fire service said crews were called to the fire in Greenfield Lane at just before 10.35pm on Monday.
A spokesman said: "Crews are using handheld jets to control the blaze and are also tackling the fire from height using a hydraulic platform.
"Firefighters are working hard to stop fire spread and protect nearby buildings."

No injuries have been reported.
Residents were allowed to return home shortly before 1am on Tuesday morning, but have been told to keep windows and doors are closed.
