Dozens injured as coach overturns on M25

Forty-one people have been injured after a coach overturned on the M25 in Kent.

The incident happened near Swanley just before 4pm and South Coast Ambulance Service said seven children are among those hurt.

Three of the 41 people have serious injuries and the Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington is on major incident alert.

Firefighters were using cutting tools to free two trapped people.

There are 90-minute delays, with lanes one and two at junction three closed anti-clockwise, and also the exit slip road.

Following reports of a coach involved in an RTC on the M25 at J3, we have 41 patients. Currently, 31 adults and 7 children with minor injuries, three other patients with more serious injuries taken to hospital.

Queues of five miles have been reported by the Highways Agency, which says the road is unlikely to be clear until after 11pm.

A statement from police said: "Kent Police was called at approximately 4pm on Monday August 13 to reports of a collision involving a coach on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 near to junction three.

"Officers are currently at the scene with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

"The Junction Three slip road on the anti-clockwise carriageway and lanes one and two are currently closed.

"There are delays to traffic and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes where possible."
