Boy, 7, killed in house fire feared to have been started deliberately

A seven-year-old boy has been killed in a house fire in south east London.

The blaze in Deptford is being treated as suspicious, London Fire Brigade said.

Two women jumped from the first floor of the home in Adolphus Street shortly before firefighters arrived at about 3.30am on Tuesday.

They were injured and treated at the scene by firefighters and paramedics.

Six fire engines and 35 firefighters from Dockhead, Greenwich, New Cross and Lewisham fire stations worked together to battle the flames.

The blaze was brought under control at about 4.50am, but the ground floor and first floor were left badly damaged.

Fire crews found the childs dead body inside the house.

Scotland Yard is treating the fire as suspicious and its cause remains under investigation.
