A pensioner has been charged with the murder of an 86-year-old woman.
Lawrence Franks, 84, is accused of killing his wife after her body was found at a property in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
A force spokesman said formal identification has not yet taken place but the woman is believed to be Patricia Franks, 86.
Police were called to the home in Frances Avenue shortly before 9.40am on Sunday and found the body of a woman.
Franks, of Frances Avenue in Gatley, is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates Court on Monday, Greater Manchester Police said.
Speaking on Sunday, Detective Inspector Richard Eales said: This is a truly tragic incident and I would like to extend my most sincere condolences to the family of the woman who has died this morning.
We are working to provide her loved ones with support from specially trained officers at this difficult time.
