A woman exposed to Novichok in Salisbury is being deprived of care because she is a nobody alcoholic, it has been claimed.

The mother of victim Dawn Sturgess, 44, has hit out at authorities for keeping her family in the dark about how she fell ill.

Caroline Sturgess believes her homeless daughter is being given a worse level of care than was given to the Skripals because of her addictions to drugs and alcohol.

One unnamed family member told the Mail Online: She feels that Dawn is not getting the same quality of treatment as the Skripals because of her background and the fact shes an alcoholic. Shes seen as a nobody, really.

[Caroline] is annoyed because for days the police told her that Dawn had a heart attack. They didnt tell her the truth. She feels like she hasnt been given the whole story.

The allegations come amid growing speculation that Dawn and boyfriend Charles Rowley, 45, fell ill after handling a contaminated item believed to have been left behind after the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia.

Enterprise News and Pictures 5/7/18 Pic shows: Video still of Novichok victim Dawn Sturgess taken from Exclusive footage obtained by ITV News and published on their website showing her buying alcohol on Friday, the day before she and her partner Charlie Rowley were rushed to hospital after being exposed to the nerve agent Novichok in Amesbury on Saturday. Ms Sturgess can be seen here buying alcohol in 'Charlie's Store' at Old George Mall in Salisbury on Friday afternoon close to the location where Sergei and Yulia Skripal were poisoned in March. Ms Sturgess and her partner Charlie Rowley collapsed after being exposed to traces of the nerve agent near where the Skripal's ate on the day they were poisoned with Novichok. Ms Sturgess lives in a homeless shelter close to Zizzi's restaurant in Salisbury where Russian spy Sergei Skirpal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned four months ago. The couple are fighting for their lives in hospital after being found unconscious over the weekend by police officers. Anti-terror police and the Ministry of Defence discovered the couple were poisoned with the same nerve agent that nearly killed the Skirpals. Police cordoned off a public rubbish bin on the corner of Rollestone Street just yards from the homeless shelter amid fears Ms Sturgess and Mr Rowley were contaminated in that area by traces of the nerve agent. Dawn Sturgess is pictured here in footage shown on ITV News. See story...

They both remain seriously ill at the hospital after being taken ill last Saturday.

One theory understood to be under investigation is whether Ms Sturgess and Mr Rowley inadvertently found the container used to transport the nerve agent in the Skripal attack before being recklessly discarded.

Caroline is a stewart with security clearance who works at Boscombe Down, near Salisbury, and is the main carer for Dawns daughter Grace, 10.

Dawn has two other songs, Aidan, 23, and Ewan, 19, who live with their father Andrew Hope, 46, who also has high-level security clearance at Boscombe Down.

She has a strained relationship with her father, unemployed Stephen Sturgess, 65.

The family member said Dawn was a happy-go-lucky child but left school at 16 and gave birth to Aiden at 21 in 1995, but suffered from post-natal depression after his birth and hit the bottle.

But it wasnt until Ewan was born that she started drinking more and more in a self-destructive way and ended up in social housing, addicted to drugs and alcohol.

Wiltshire Police initially thought that the couple had taken contaminated crack cocaine or heroin.

Caroline is said to be in shock at the level of care her daughter is being given, and doctors fear Dawn might not survive.

The family member added: Shes on the brink of death, basically. Shes done a lot of abuse to her body already.

Wiltshire Police and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust have been contacted for comment.
