A man has been banned for life from flying with Jet2 after his disruptive and aggresive behaviour caused a flight to Ibiza to make an unscheduled stop off in France.

The passenger was removed from flight LS397 from Belfast by French police after the pilot was forced to make the landing, a spokeswoman for the airline said.

The plane landed in Toulouse on Friday, with reports the man acted aggressively towards staff and passengers.

Jet2 said the man had been consuming alcohol illicitly which had contributed to the disgraceful and deplorable behaviour.

Phil Ward, managing director at Jet2.com said, We will not under any circumstances tolerate this type of disgraceful behaviour onboard our aircraft.

Fellow customers and families travelling for a well earned holiday should not be subjected to this sort of behaviour and we sincerely apologise to all the other customers on that flight.

We will be taking further action in support of our crew to ensure the passenger is held accountable for his actions and indeed he has already received a lifetime ban from future Jet2.com flights.

Last week, a flight was cancelled after a stag party allegedly urinated on the floor and abused staff.

A 32-year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil was arrested on the flight before being released under investigation.

Nathan Rees, whose stag party interrupted the flight, has said staff overreacted and that he plans to take legal action against them.

The landscape worker from Cardiff made his feelings clear in an angry Twitter rant shortly after passengers were removed from the plane.

He said: @easyJet your cabin crew and head cabin lady need to be sacked.
