A woman suffered a miscarriage after going into a state of shock when she saw her husband being attacked and left for dead by thugs outside their home.
Shabaz Shakat, 32, was beaten to a bloody pulp by a gang who had attempted to get into his home in Moseley, Birmingham, where his petrified wife was hiding.
She was forced to watch from an upstairs window as he was beaten unconscious by the group of four men and one woman.
Shabaz said the gang had attempted to break into his home in Wellesley Gardens at around 1pm on Tuesday, April 1, after bashing down the back garden gate.
Police have said they believe the brutal attack was targeted.

The husband was two streets away at the time and ran home after his wife called him panicking.

He says that when he arrived the gang were smashing away at his car and despite desperately trying to fight off his attackers, he was repeatedly hit with a metal steering wheel lock and left for dead.
The attackers are believed to have been known to Shabaz.
Two days later, his wife – who has asked not to be named – lost her baby at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
