Boris Johnson has urged MPs (again) to reject the Brexit deal on the table which risks keeping the UK in permanent captivity.

He was heckled by fellow Tory MPs as he warned others about trying to leave.

Divisions among the Tory benches were laid bare as the former foreign secretary urged colleagues to reject Theresa Mays Brexit deal and claimed Brussels think theyve got us beat.

He also outlined ideas which included renegotiating with the EU and removing the Irish border backstop.

A video grab from footage broadcast by the UK Parliament's Parliamentary Recording Unit (PRU) shows Britain's former Foreign Sectretary Boris Johnson as he speaks in the House of Commons in London on December 4, 2018, during a debate on the Brexit withdrawal agreement, ahead of the 'Meaningful Vote'. - Britain's government suffered a stinging rebuke from MPs ahead of Tuesday's momentous Brexit debate, exposing Prime Minister Theresa May's lack of support in parliament. The House of Commons voted 311-293 to censure the government for failing to publish its full legal advice about the divorce deal May struck last month with the European Union. Mr Johnson said he could not believe there is a single MP who sincerely believes this deal before us is a good deal – which prompted a Tory colleague to note actually there are a lot.

Sir Roger Gale later demanded Mr Johnson reveal what his big idea was after he labelled Mrs Mays solution a pseudo Brexit.

Speaking in the Commons, Mr Johnson said: The Governments heart has not appeared to be in this deal and I think listening to those who are sent out to defend it and to explain it, they know it is a democratic disaster.

He added: It has brought us together – Remainers and Leavers, myself and Tony Blair, the whole Johnson family is united in the belief that this is, Im afraid, a national humiliation that makes a mockery of Brexit.

Mr Johnson claimed the UK would be permanently trapped in the Irish border backstop because the EU had no reason to take its foot off our neck.

He added: They will keep us in permanent captivity as a memento mori, as a reminder to the world of what happens to all those who try to leave the EU.

This is a recipe for blackmail and its open to any member of the EU to name its price for Britains right to leave the backstop.

The Spanish will make a play for Gibraltar, the French will go for our fish and our bankers, the Germans may well want some concessions on the free movement of EU nationals and so it goes on.

Sir Roger, intervening on the speech, said of Mr Johnson: He appears to be one who prefers the grievance to the solution.

The Prime Minister has come up with a solution. Whats his big idea?

Father of the House Ken Clarke, a Tory former chancellor, suggested there was not a faintest chance of Mr Johnsons bid for a renegotiation being taken seriously, adding: Isnt he just doomed if he gets his way to rush a catastrophic no deal?

Mr Johnson responded I dont agree with that at all, and went on to add: The EU will not treat us as sovereign equal in these negotiations unless and until we are willing to stand up for our own interests now and in the future, I think our country is ready for us to take this stand, I think they are.

As the former foreign secretary entered the 30th minute of his speech, Mrs May left the Commons chamber.

Mr Johnson continued: If we vote through this apology to Brexit we will be showing that we have treated the 17.4 million, the highest number of people ever to vote for a single proposition, with contempt.
