Man arrested for drink-driving after teens were killed in car crash is released

A man being held over the death of two teenagers in a horrifying car crash has been released under investigation.

The suspect, 26, was detained after a man and woman, both 19, died following a road smash on the Lincoln by-pass on the A46, at 12.50am yesterday.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, providing a positive breath test, and leaving the scene of a collision.

The suspect had allegedly fled his Ford Mondeo Estate car but was later tracked down by officers.

The victims, who were driving a white Citroen C3, have not been named but their immediate family members have been notified about their deaths.

A police spokesperson said: The police investigation at the scene has been completed and the road is now re-open.

Anyone who was travelling between the Carholme and Skellingthorpe roundabout from 12.20am and 12.50am this morning and saw either vehicle before the collision or saw the collision itself is asked to contact police on 101.
