A body was then later found at sea on December 4.
Ms Gerards family have now said they are heartbroken by the confirmation of their worst nightmare.
The DNA results confirm our worst nightmare and we are all heartbroken that Amy is no longer with us, they said in a statement released by the Lucie Blackman Trust.
