Harry and Meghan asked for donations to seven charities instead of gifts – but they still got sent loads of weird and wonderful gifts anyway.

Among the pressies was the honour of two koalas being named after them at Taronga Zoo, near Sydney, with the Australian prime minister giving the couple matching Akubra hats as well.

The hats are hand made in Dempsey, New South Wales, and were described by Australian prime minister as a very Australian present.

The government also donated $10,000 to the Australian International Military Games Limited.

Malcolm Turnbull posted to his social media: Congratulations Harry & Meghan on your wedding day. With our very best wishes for a long and happy life together, Malcolm and Lucy.

The couple were sent a S.T Dupont gift set, which included several top French brands all with individual engraving.

S.T Dupont have been tasked with sending gifts across the channel for over 70 years with French president Vincent Auriol presented a bespoke travel case to the future Queen Elizabeth in celebration of her marriage to Prince Philip in 1947.

Canadas Justin Trudeau posted a congratulations message on his Twitter account yesterday confirming the Canadians were giving money to charity.

He said: To celebrate their union, Canada will donate $50,000 to Jumpstart, a Canadian charity dedicated to making play and sports more accessible to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Since 2005, Jumpstart has helped more than 1.6 million children of all abilities get out on the field and be part of a team.

The couple asked for donations to be given to Chiva Projects, an organization helping kids dealing with AIDS; Crisis U.K., the national charity for homelessness; Corporal Scotty, a group for children of the armed forces; youth sports charity Street Games; the ocean conservation group Surfers Against Sewage; and Wilderness UK.

The Trumps announced they would be donating to one of the seven charities named.

Harrys grandmother, The Queen, gave the couple a hunting lodge in the Sandringham estate, and it might not be the done thing to outshine her gift.
