He allegedly choked after a nurse gave him food before a numbing agent given to him had completely stopped working.

Ms Williams confronted doctors during a meeting, who apparently admitted he was given a sandwich while the numbing agent was still active.

They added there was a possibility Mr Williams may not get back to a normal level of function before he was unwell.
Mr Williams had initially gone to the hospital to check if he had gallstones but none were found.
Suzanne Rankin, Chief Executive for Ashford & St Peters Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, confirmed an investigation was underway.
She added: Firstly, our thoughts are with the Williams family during this extremely difficult time. We appreciate how upsetting and stressful this situation is and Mr Williams case is being thoroughly investigated.
We are in regular contact with the family and will, of course, share the findings of our investigation once it is complete. Until that time it would be inappropriate to comment further on the circumstances of this case.
Our Intensive Care team is providing the best possible ongoing care to Mr Williams and speaking regularly with his family. We would like to reassure them that we are taking this incident, and all the concerns they have raised, extremely seriously and we apologise for the distress caused.
