Meal-kit review: Top marks for a simply sensational meal from Beach House in Tramore

independent.ie– Last summer, the first place I visited when restaurants were allowed to reopen was Beach House in Tramore. Lunch was every bit as good as I had hoped it would be when I first heard that Jumoke Akintola and Peter Hogan were opening a new place in Peter’s home town. In normal circumstances, I wouldn’t be reviewing again so soon, but Beach House has just launched a nationwide delivery service which is very good news indeed. So think of this as more of a public service announcement, if you will.

I know Jumoke and Peter’s favourite restaurant is St. John in London — they had their wedding reception there — and the restrained decor of the dining room at Beach House shares something of that aesthetic. I do love a plain room.

Jumoke is a self-trained chef (she and Peter met when they were both teachers in London), who cut her culinary teeth at the couple’s fish and chip stall in Blackrock Market. (Those were very good fish and chips, as are the fish and chips at their Dublin restaurant, Fish Shop on Benburb Street, currently open for takeaway).
