Another 3,497 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK, government figures show.
The number of new cases is a 36% increase on last Saturday, when 2,594 new infections were confirmed nationwide.
A further nine people have died within 28 days of returning a positive test.
It brings the total number of people who have died from COVID-19 in the UK to 41,623, the official figures show.
However, separate figures published by the UK's statistics agencies show there have now been 57,400 deaths registered in the UK where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
