British staycationers could save hundreds of pounds on their holidays by swapping their location for a similar destination a few miles away, according to Which? Travel.
Short breaks in the UK have surged in popularity because of COVID-19 travel restrictions – but opting for towns and cities off the beaten track can bring big savings.
In one case, Which? Travel said tourists could save £43 a night by staying in a seaside town just three miles away from a popular destination on the Pembrokeshire coast.
The consumer group also revealed that many of these cheaper destinations have also received greater customer satisfaction scores.
Salcombe hotel rooms tend to cost £59 a night more than those in nearby Dartmouth – but Dartmouth has a customer satisfaction score of 84% for its scenery and tourist attractions, outranking Salcombe on 71%.
