NEW DELHI/ HARIDWAR: Ayush ministry on Tuesday directed Baba Ramdevs Patanjali Ayurved to stop advertising and publicising its claims about Covid-19 treatment drug until it is fully examined. The government also asked the company to provide details of the composition of the ayurvedic medicines being claimed for Covid-19 treatment along with its particulars of its clinical trials.
Yoga guru Baba Ramdevs Patanjali Ayurved on Tuesday launched its ayurvedic medicine, Coronil and Swasari, claiming that it is the worlds first ayurvedic treatment for Covid-19. Ramdev also claimed all clinical trials for the product have been conducted.“The entire country and the world was waiting for medicine or vaccine for corona. The research-based medicine we have launched has shown 100% recovery within 3-7 days,” he announced.
The firm claimed that the two Ayurved-based drugs — developed by Patanjali Research Institute, Haridwar, and privately-owned National Institute of Medical Science, Jaipur — have shown 100% results during the clinical trials on the infected patients, except those on life support systems.
However, distancing itself from Ramdevs claim, Ayush ministry said the facts of the claim made by Patanjali Ayurved and details of the stated scientific study are not known to the ministry. “In order to make this ministry aware of the facts and verify the claims, Patanjali Ayurved Ltd has been asked to provide at the earliest details of the name and composition of the medicines being claimed for Covid treatment; site(s)/hospital(s), where the research study was conducted for Covid-19; protocol, sample size, Institutional Ethics Committee clearance, CTRI registration and results data of the study and stop advertising/publicising such claimsRead More – Source
