No French exemption on quarantine for travelers entering the UK

The U.K. prime ministers office on Friday appeared to backtrack on earlier commitments not to impose quarantine on travelers coming from France.

The U.K. published Monday its lockdown exit plan, which includes quarantine for people arriving from abroad.

French President Emmanuel Macron and U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson had announced Sunday evening in a joint statement that “no quarantine measures would apply to travellers coming from France at this stage.” France also said earlier this month that travelers from the U.K. wont be quarantined.

Asked to clarify which restrictions would apply to people arriving from France, a spokesperson for Johnson told reporters: “There isnt a French exemption … Well be working with the French in the coming weeks because cooperation is particularly necessary for the management of our common border.”
