He was deputy prime minister of the United Kingdom for ten years, and an MP for 40 years.

But lets be honest – John Prescott will be remembered for punching a protester in the jaw.

The politician, now 80, was egged in the street and didnt take kindly to the public humiliation.

He instinctively delivered a strong left jab, hitting the man in the face.

It happened exactly 18 years to the day, and people have been looking back on the headline moment.

Former Labour spin doctor Alastair Campbell tweeted: 18 years ago today I got a call from John Prescott.

“Hiya … Ive just thumped a bloke.”
