Police have recovered the body of a man from a dock near the headquarters of the BBC in Greater Manchester.

The corpse was found in water close to the Media City Metrolink stop at Salford Quays at midday on Easter Monday, and officers remain at the scene to investigate.

Forensic work and further enquiries are under way to identify the man, whose death is not believed to be suspicious and is being treated as unexplained.

Police said the scene of the discovery remains closed.

Thousands of people use the tram stop every day as it directly serves Media City. It has been home to the BBC since 2011 and also lists ITV and the University of Salford among its tenants.
