A man who paid £90 for a taxi from Cardiff to Swansea to meet a runaway student was jailed after being found guilty of raping her.

Paul Clement, 39, had demanded his moneys worth from the 15-year-old girl – who he hooked up with on a social networking site – after he went to meet her on the grounds of her school.

Swansea Crown Court heard he arrived expecting to have sex and pressured the girl until she gave in.

Paul Ceri Clement and William James Sidney L?Homme were on a night out in Cardiff and caught a taxi to Swansea to meet girls they had been communicating with online, before one of the girls was raped. They had been visiting bars in Cardiff on the evening of May 24, 2017, when they paid a cab fare of ?90 to bring them to Swansea . They had spent the hours before messaging the girls, whom they had never met, via a social media messaging app. Swansea Crown Court heard the two teenage girls then led the men, aged 39 and 33, into the yard of a secondary school where one of the girls was assaulted. Clement, of Rhondda, Wales was jailed for seven years. L?Homme, 33 also from Rhondda, was found not guilty of causing or inciting a girl under the age of 16 to engage in sexual activity after denying the charge.

Clement was drinking with his friend William LHomme in Cardiff when they hooked up with the girl and her 14-year-old friend on Whisper.

They arranged to meet in Swansea where the girls had run away from home earlier in the day.

Prosecutor Andrew Davies said: They used the social media app Whisper to contact the girls and took a taxi to Swansea where they met the two schoolgirls and gave them a long-stemmed red rose.

The prosecution says it would have been obvious to men in their thirties that they were under-age girls.

The two innocent teenagers had disappeared from home on the night of 24 May 2017 and their families were desperately looking for them.

Swansea Crown Court heard Clement targeted the older girl after her friend ran off.

Mr Davies said: He told her: “Come on, this is not fair. I have come all the way down here and spent £90 on a taxi and it is for nothing”.

There is a clear picture of a man who spent money on the expectation of sex and would not have his moneys worth until it went further.

She was resisting but he was being persistent and went on to rape her.
