Police investigating the murder of a bouncer outside a New Year's Eve party have charged the son of Muslim cleric Abu Hamza with firearms offences.

Imran Mostafa Kamel, 26, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or danger and possession of a firearm when prohibited for life.

Kamel is also being held as a suspect over the bouncer's murder.

His arrest came after a separate incident at Fountain House in Park Lane, Westminster, where Tudor Simionov, 33, was stabbed to death at around 5.36am on Tuesday.

Kamel, of The Grove, Ealing, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court earlier and was remanded in custody.

Hamza was found guilty of terror offences in the UK and the US, where he is serving a life sentence at a high-security prison.

Scotland Yard said the incident regarding Kamel also happened at the same address at around 5.36am, but that the firearms allegations against him were not directly connected to the death of Mr Simionov or the injuries suffered by others.

Two of Mr Simionov's colleagues, aged 29 and 37, and a 29-year-old woman were also stabbed but their injuries were not life-threatening.

Mr Simionov's girlfriend, Madalina Anghel, said his "unexpected death" had "pained us all".
