In the weeks that followed several royal sources came forward, painting a picture of problems between the two royal woman and even arguments between Harry and older brother William.

Kate had allegedly told Meghan off for failing to follow royal protocol, while the former Suits actress was said to have made the Duchess of Cambridge cry at Princess Charlottes bridesmaid dress fitting.

Earlier this week it was reported that Harry and Meghan had opted to stay with the Queen over Christmas, instead of with William and Kate in Anmer Hall.

A source told the Sun: Theres not a huge amount of room at Sandringham so its quite surprising. Maybe they just want their own space.

Things are civil between the couples but they dont spend much time together.

Last year the couples had stayed together at the huge Norfolk estate, describing it as a fantastic time with the children.

But whether or not they the couples get along, Christmas at Sandringham has been described by royal biographer Christopher Wilson as an ordeal.

He said: Sandringham Christmases can be an ordeal, even for those born royal – and generally those whove married into the family cant wait to get away.
