No one looks forward to doing the grocery shopping.

Walking around a supermarket, stretching to reach the long-lasting bread at the back and looking for the ripe fruit is all a bit boring, isnt it?

With the Christmas rush making shops all the more hectic, Iceland has decided to make shopping fun by changing their shop floor into an ice skating rink.

So grab the kids and turn it into a day out as you do the weekly shop.

Careful with the eggs though.

The budget supermarkets aisles were transformed in their Stratford branch after a team of 12 ice rink experts worked through the night, refitting the entire store with 250 square metres of synthetic ice.

The rink was installed in response to new research, commissioned by Iceland, which found that four in five parents (83%) wish they had more time to enjoy the run-up to the big day.

A locker room area was installed where shoppers were invited to swap their footwear for skates, meaning they could glide through the aisles as they picked up their essentials ready for Christmas.

With nine in 10 children (89%) finding the Christmas food shop boring, Iceland added some extra fun to the experience with penguin aids to help them skate along between the freezers and shelves.

The in-store skating trial passed the test of two professional skaters who took to the ice, delighting shoppers with a performance.

If you are skating around the store then you might want to pick up a few of their Christmas treats.

You can now buy a Greggs festive bake or pine-tree flavoured crisps in-store.

Happy skating, all.
