Four men have been arrested after a boy was stabbed to death and died in front of his mother.

John Ogunjobi, 16, was knifed in the street just before 11pm on November 5.

One witness described hearing his mothers screams as he lay in the street, and despite the efforts of paramedics he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

His family said John was retaking his GCSEs and had ambitions to become an engineer after leaving school,

John, from Tulse Hill, south London, was one of five people stabbed to death in the week from October 31 in separate killings in London.

Detectives said they had arrested four men, aged 22, 20, 21 and 23, who have been taken into custody at south London police stations for questioning.

Officers were initially called to Greenleaf Close, Tulse Hill, shortly before 11pm on the day of the attack, finding the teenager collapsed in the street with stab injuries.

Metropolitan Police officers returned to the scene a week on from the attack to appeal for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers also asked for anyone who may have captured footage or images of the incident on their mobile phone to get in contact.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Vandenbergh said: We believe the victim was attacked by a number of suspects and the altercation would have undoubtedly drawn the attention of those who were in the vicinity.

Police earlier confirmed that a post-mortem examination found the teenagers cause of death to be a stab wound.

So far in the capital this year there have been 119 violent deaths, including two cases that are being treated as self-defence.
