Skyscrapers and the towers of Liverpools business district can be seen just a short distance away from what has been dubbed a heroin village where drug taking is rife and needles and are scattered around the streets.
Streets close to Scotland Road in the Vauxhall area of Liverpool have been described by local people as Heroin Village.
The Liverpool Echo was encouraged to visit the area and spoke to one frightened mother, who didnt wish to give her name about how her eight-year-old daughter had warned her to cross the road where they live to avoid a drug needle.
The mother added: She shouldnt know what it was, but we see needles and other drug items all over the streets around her, all the time – this is Heroin Village.

The village area she describes includes the areas around Bevington Bush, Limekiln Lane and Gardners Row, which lie close to Scotland Road – and just a short distance away from Liverpools impressive city centre.
The area has been blighted by stalled developments and has been described as a ghostland.
The homeless drug crisis in the city has been reported on previously, in which vulnerable rough sleepers are caught in a vicious cycle of taking dangerous narcotics, before heading back to the city centre to beg for cash to feed their habits.
The frightened mother added: Drug users have been in the area for a while now – but we are now at the point where we cant walk down the street without seeing drug users and needles.
Images in this article show drug taking is reaching epidemic proportions, a problem that both Liverpool City Council and Merseyside Police are aware of and are working to combat.
