This little boy was invited to get behind the Tesco cash register when the manager of his favourite shop spotted him playing in a closed lane.
David Burke, 45, admits shopping with his son Jay, who has Downs syndrome, can be testing at times.
But on October 6, the firefighter was left heart-warmed when a manager at the supermarket in Bradford made the kind gesture.
David was having trouble coaxing Jay away from a closed cash register after he decided he wanted to work for the store that day.
Noticing the stand-off, store manager James opened the lane and helped Jay scan his dads shopping through.
David praised the stores staff for their patience and empathy in helping him turn a challenging moment into a wonderful memory.
He said: I was trying to get him out from behind the till, but Jay decided he wanted to work at Tesco that day.

I was having real difficulty but amazingly the manager, James, came over and opened the till for him.
He felt like a worker and it just warmed my heart to see how focused her was and how much he was enjoying himself.
It was amazing to see [the staff] take the time and patience to do this for Jay.
We call him the “ultimate icebreaker” because he will talk to anyone, so the staff know him quite well – but we had never met James before.
Shopping with a child with special needs an be really difficult.

Seeing people recognise that and help you out just takes the pressure off the ideas that others are judging you as a parent.
Because that does happen sometimes, and it can be a really hard thing to face.
I really appreciate the staffs help with this.
Jay really is ray of sunshine and this really highlights that when you show children with special needs a bit of patience and compassion, they return the favour by putting a smile on your face.
