Baby injured after shots are fired at two houses in Birmingham

A baby has been injured after shots were fired at two houses in Birmingham today.

Police were called to reports that an object had been thrown through the window of a home on Sandbourne Road at around 2.55am.

Officers later confirmed that the damage had been caused by a gunshot.

A baby, that was in the house at the time, suffered a minor injury from broken glass and was taken to hospital.

At around 3am, there was a second shooting at a window of at a property on Fernbank Road.

No-one was injured, but a dark vehicle was seen driving off from the scene.

Officers remain at the scenes today to carry out house-to-house enquiries and recover evidence.

Det Insp Richard Marsh said: The investigation is at an early stage, but given how close the incidents were in time and location, we are linking them.
