However hard one tries to stage manage a wedding – even a royal wedding – the kids will always have other ideas.

All eyes were on the young page boys and bridesmaids as Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank wed in Windsor, and they didn't disappoint. They smiled, waved, laughed – and fell over.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte arrived together in a royal car, with the three-year-old girl waving especially excitedly at passing crowds.

Fourth in line for the throne, the shortest bridesmaid bounded up the big steps.

Hot on her heels was Louis de Givenchy, one of only two pageboys and the son of a JP Morgan executive.

He danced excitedly outside the chapel entrance, but when led up the stairs was caught by a shooting gust of wind, tumbling down on to all fours.

All the children filed in, following Princess Eugenie down the aisle, and won doting looks from the guests they passed.

An energetic Prince George showed no signs of boredom, playing with the Queen's great-granddaughter, Savannah Phillips.

Savannah pretended to play the trumpet at one point, much to the glee of Prince George, who clasped his hand over his mouth.

They were joined by Teddy Theodora, daughter of one of the many celebrities invited, Robbie Williams.

Despite making their own fun, the children dutifully fell in line to follow Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank as they left the chapel as husband and wife.

They held hands and chatted as a carriage pulled by four white horses pulled up outside the church and marked their big jobs over.
