Police have shut down a private hospital in West Yorkshire following a major incident.
Officers have now confirmed a man suffered serious injuries after being assaulted at Huddersfield BMI Hospital just after midnight.
Patients were told to stay away while police deal with the incident.
Pictures of blood splattered on the road outside the hospital emerged on social media after police confirmed the nature of the incident.
Roads surrounding the hospital were cordoned off by West Yorkshire Police early this morning.
A witness said the area was crawling with police as she went past at 7.30am, the Huddersfield Examiner reports.
A patient told the paper: They rang at about 8am saying police had closed the hospital due to something going on. They wouldnt say what.

I was due to be in for 9am so its all very last minute. Its not been re-arranged – they just said theyd be in touch.
A spokesperson for the hospital has said it will be closed until 7am tomorrow.
In a statement, the hospital said: Due to a major incident, the Huddersfield BMI Hospital will be closed until 7am on Thursday August 23.
